MELISSA VARA IS A CANDIDATE RUNNING FOR JUDGE OF COUNTY COURT AT LAW NO. 15 IN BEXAR COUNTY, TEXAS
Melissa is a San Antonio native committed to the betterment of her city. She is a product of the San Antonio Independent School District, where she graduated as the Salutatorian from Thomas Jefferson High School. Melissa furthered her education at the University of Texas at Austin where she majored in government, with a minor in interdisciplinary studies, and graduated summa cum laude. She attended law school at St. Mary's University and became licensed to practice law in 2012. Melissa has been in private practice throughout the duration of her career practicing criminal law, family law, estate planning, tax, and other civil law matters. She has participated in jury trials, bench trials, administrative hearings, pleas and other pretrial hearings, both criminal and civil. Melissa has the experience to serve the people of Bexar County, Texas as Judge of County Court at Law No. 15 if given this great privilege.
Melissa prides herself on having a close relationship with her family. Melissa's parents are Moses and Meme Vara, both raised in San Antonio. Moses is a graduate of Burbank High School and is presently a salesman in the preowned division of Ancira Winton Chevrolet. Meme is a graduate of Edgewood High School and is an instructional assistant at James Madison Elementary. Her parents have instilled in her the belief that success is attainable through hard work and dedication. Melissa has two sisters, Jennifer Vara and Veronica Vara. Jennifer is a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and the University of Texas at Austin. She is presently the Fan Experience Manager for Spurs Sports and Entertainment. Veronica is a patient care coordinator at the WellMed Medical Group under the direction of Dr. Gerardo Javier Ramos, M.D. Melissa is also an avid dog lover, which is showcased by her love and affection for her rambunctious beagle, Franky, and lovable labrador, Parker.
